9/23/15 to 10/6/15 (17,200 miles)

Our visit to Aunt Yvonne and part of her family was good, as always. We had dinner with Jeff and Marilyn, joined by Abbi, Noah and Kate. Evan was ill, so he and Ryan stayed home. We enjoyed dinner and visiting with the family. It was our first meeting with Kate, who is as adorable as the pictures we have seen of her.
From Columbus, we drove to Kentucky Dam State Park for a couple of nights and then on to Jonesboro for the wedding. We found the Norton clan in good form and had a wonderful time at the rehearsal dinner and the wedding. The bride looked beautiful, and the groom looked very happy.

As we were in Arkansas, we made arrangements to meet one of Donna’s high school friends, Dottie Patterson, and her very tiny King Charles Cavalier Spaniel, Charlie. They met us at DeGray Lake State Park for a couple of nights. Charlie weighs ten pounds, and Gus is about 95 and frisky, so we were concerned about keeping them separated so that Charlie didn’t get broken. They didn’t want to be separated, so, in the end, they romped around the trailer, playing and trading toys. Gus has no aggressive tendencies, but one of his paws outweighs Charlie, so we kept our beady eyes on them. Gus was sad when Charlie left. Donna thinks Gus needs a pet. Stephen disagrees.

And from DeGray Lake we came home. We like our home, and we were glad to get back. We had a lovely trip, saw beautiful, interesting and amazing things, met some wonderful new friends, spent time with old friends and family members and truly understood how very fortunate we are.
